FABB-ulous Dalai-ng

B Productions has been working on some very exciting shoots all month. First we were blessed with the opportunity to be a part of of the Dalai Lama's visit to New York by doing a three camera shoot of his talk at Town Hall. With Bill and everyone at B Productions being big fans of His Holiness it was truly an honor. We videotaped his talk in 2006 at The New York Historical Society so this was the second time we've worked with the Tibet Fund and the Dalai Lama. We definitely hope to work with them again!

Another big project we had this month was 20th Annual FABB Awards at the beautiful Chelsea Piers. As if on cue a caravan of kayakers rowed by during cocktails. Joy created beautiful motion graphics animations to be played during the ball. Our video of Frank Fialkoff, President of Haskell Jewels, documenting the growth of the company from birth in 1926 in the flapper era to today as licensees of Jennifer Lopez, Kenneth Cole and Betsey Johnson was also featured. It was a disco inferno when the Starlight Orchestra with 4 hot singers in Betsey Johnson black slip dresses and 3 guys backed by a 8 piece band rocked out. Working with FABB is always a pleasure especially knowing that they have raised $12 million dollars for charity over the years.

I'd say that B Productions is racking up the good karma. We can feel it around here in the office!

The WWD Runway Reports produced by the crew here at B Productions was awarded in BtoB Media Business Online Video Award "On Location, Large B-to-B" category! It's always great when our hard work is recognized by the industry!

Congratulations everyone!

Isn't it funny that our name is in the title of the award as well?

better late than never

So it was my first NY Fashion Week here at B Productions. One word to sum it up: frenzy.

Bill Marpet and the crew shot over 150 fashion shows, presentations and backstage of the hottest designers. Many of them were running on 3-4 hours of sleep a night. Nerves were frazzled and tension was in the air but everyone pulled through until the end. Much pet up steam was blown off at the wrap party. Open bars are always a good thing in my book.

Favorite shows? Everyone was definitely awed by the beautiful Marc Jacobs show. The set up with dozens of mirrors had everyone ooh'ing and aah'ing. Betsey Johnson's show was a blast as always. Project Runway was also the favorite of many of us here because we're all fans of the show!

*Pictures to come soon! (It takes months to develop digital camera pictures if you didn't know.)

Coty Lovers!

B Productions has wrapped up production of COTY's CEO, Bernd Beetz, and CFO , Michael Fishoff, global address to its employees... and by global we mean GLOBAL- the video will be subtitled in 14 different languages and seen by employees all around the world.

Bill Marpet (B Productions' director and founder) and Andy Biskin (B Productions' Production Manager) put in a wish list and Vicky Bugbee designed the blueprint for a set that was a series of translucent pedestals with slabs of suspended milkglass as a background. The coolest thing about it was that we got to play a lot with lights and colored gels. It became a giant block set rigged and lit by J.D. Moll and Alan Hostetter. Inthe end, the set evoked a feeling reminiscent of Paris- the city of lights- but in NYC!

The video debuted many new fragrances from Coty, some of them so new that the bottles were one of a kind! Some of the fragrances included the super kawaii Gwen Stafani's Harajuku Lovers fragrance dolls, La Voce (a fragrance designed by opera singer Renee Fleming that will be sold for charity), Marc Jacobs' Daisy fragrance and Vera Wang's Look. Playboy also now has a new scent whose gift box includes a cigar, briefs and fragrance... cheeky!

they work hard for the money

B's own Angela Hodgkinson (editor/producer) and Joy Vaccese (multimedia design) worked their butts off to bring you WWD's exclusive video content of the 2008 FiFi Awards.

Wednesday evening, Angela was on the red carpet at "the Academy Awards of fragrance" interviewing distinguished guests and spent the night editing in our studios until 7 am the next morning. Joy rose before the crack of dawn to be here at 5 in the morning to get the videos online by noon. Now that's dedication.

The 36th annual FiFi Awards were held the Park Avenue Armory. Attendees included Taylor Momsen (Gossip Girl), Salt-n-Pepa (of "Push It" fame), Padma Lakshmi (Top Chef) and the girl band Danity Kane. Vera Wang received the Hall of Fame award for her various fragrances including Vera Wang and Vera Wang Princess. One of B Productions' clients- Coty, Inc.- came away the big winner taking home the gold for 5 out of the 22 categories.

The Magic of Macy's (and video production)

B Productions has been shooting for the Macy's INC microsite for the past few days. Jacquetta Wheeler, named Model of the Millenium by The Face magazine, has been the main model during the shoots but I'm sure having a beautiful model around paled in comparison to working with a huge green screen and space lights on menace arms (right guys?!). Green screening is nothing new for our lighting designer, Alan Hostetter, whose worked with them before including for those "Verizon guy" ads.Daniel Marracino, director of photography, was burdened with the task of making the models feel comfortable so that they would be more natural in front of the camera (poor Daniel). Grip Nick Catania, outfitted in the Armani jacket given to him by George Clooney himself, was the stand-in for lighting checks and showed all the models how it's done! Bring it Nick!
